02How to factory reset it
before you reset
A factory reset wipes everything, including the PPPoE username/password and VLAN ID entered during setup. If you reset the router, you'll need to redo the WAN configuration step in the guide (verbose guide, Step 05 / simple guide, Step 3) from scratch — have those credentials on hand again before you start, or don't reset unless something's actually broken.
The general method for UniFi gateways like the Dream Router:
Find the small reset button or pinhole on the unit (usually on the back or bottom — check the box insert or the official link above for the exact spot on this specific model).
With the router powered on, press and hold the reset button. Most UniFi devices want it held for several seconds, until an LED changes behavior (commonly starts flashing) — that's the signal to let go.
Let it reboot on its own. This can take a few minutes; don't unplug it mid-reboot.
The router comes back up at factory defaults — original WiFi name/password, no WAN configuration. Set up as if it were brand new.
The exact hold-time and LED behavior for the Dream Router 7 specifically wasn't independently confirmed here — the sticker/insert that came in the box, or the official Ubiquiti link in Section 01, is the authoritative source for this exact model. Don't guess at the timing if the button doesn't seem to be responding; check there first.
03Alternative: reset from the app
If the router is still reachable on the network and responding, a factory reset can usually also be triggered from inside the UniFi app itself (device settings → factory reset), without needing to find the physical button. This only works if the device is still online and adopted in the app — if it's completely unresponsive, the physical button is the fallback.
